Look on the bottom of your mouse and you should see its power rating in both Volts and Amps, something like 5V, 10mA and these numbers will vary depending on the mouse you have. Read through japala's article here http://metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n ... /index_eng and you can follow the steps on where to tap into power and setup of a led. The Finish version is here http://metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n ... ouse/index

wow, how old is your mouse? I am pretty sure that in the states anything that uses electricity is required by law through the FCC to stamp its stats somewhere on the product. What kind of mouse do you have? Maybe it had it on a sticker and the sticker fell off? If so maybe someone else here has the same one and can give you the info you need.

hehe, the sticker is still there but really not telling any info about the voltage. I am using a Genius netscroll +.
Anyway maybe i can use a multimeter, i am going to build one soon just waiting for the equipment :o

yeah, the multimeter is probably the best way to go. I think most optical mice, single led, are all about 100mA, so if yours is not, you would be well under this unless you have a lighted scroll wheel or something. Just for example I use a logitech trackball, which is 5v 10mA. If you live in the states, home depot and probably lowes have a good range of multimeters. I imagine Radio Shack will have some too.

Where are you from? Maybe someone here knows where to get cheaper leds in your area.

Hey I can't find much info on your mouse. It is optical right? If it is, it is probably around 5v 100mA. To be safe maybe you could check your local store if they have one in stock and check the info on that one. Maybe they have a booklet inside the box that has this information.
