I had a semi non working optical mouse from microsoft.. so i ripped the first generation optical mouse apart.. I ripped out the 2 leds in there (theres one that generates light for camera.. and another onejust for looks... since the thing doesn't really work that well anyways.. I wanted to see if it would actually work with different colored leds... I can honestly say it does... i'm clicked on the post topic button with a superbright green.. i'm just testing out super bright blues.... if i had white or Uv or such i would test them too... any ways expect to see pics and article soon.. and tell me if you try this

Yes, they do work. This is quite popular mod these days actually. UV will work fine too.

When I asked about this, I was told that the camera won't work with any other led but red... Shiit, no i've gotta make that to my mouse too....!

It works the best, because it makes the best contrast on dark surfaces. I used a func 1030 mousepad and a logitech mouseman optical for a long time. Then I changed the led to blue, and I couldn't get enough contrast to be acurate enough to game with. So I went back to my cloth mousepad until I got my mx700 mouse. That is a great mouse...

i tried it with blue green purple and white all over 11000 candela.. they all worked without hitch.. the best surface is color is black.. and its some sort of synthetic plastic material thats bumpy.. so with the angle of the light it creates shadows and lighted areas thus it works with near ever color.. hopefully i'll have a short tutorial by sunday!

I strongly disagree. The best surface I have found is a bumpy white surface. This makes the best shadows. Also, 11000 milla candelas mabye, I would think 11000 candelas would be getting the same effect as looking at the sun.

actually 11 000 candelas isn't bad at all... I have 15 000- 21 000 candalas lightin ccfl and I can look it, but leds are maximum 12 candelas (brightest that I personally know).

Are human eyes as human ears, logarithmic? (kirjotinko sen oikein, tarkoitin siis logaritmista asteikkoa?)

Botia - yes, something like that, though probably not 'logarithmic'..

Changes on scale luminosity are perceived differently fron changes in the
bandwidth.. visible bandwidth being ~350-750 nm..

Then there is the adaptation of the eyes and the perceptual system, with
million-fold difference in maximal adaptation between the dark-adaptation
and the light adaptation (sic?). (So in very dark you can perceive one
millionth of the light intensity you perveived during the day).

eli joo jotakin sellaista, mutta et sitä huomaa ellet oo valokuvaaja tai
maisemamaalari (noissa puuhissa ite oon törmänny moiseen) jolloin
adaptaation 'havainnollistaa' jokin ulkoinen tekijä johon luminositeetit
'tallennetaan'. Kai...
