would it be possible to wire the powerbutton of a computer to some kind of remote controlled servo so you could start the computer from a remote, keyfob or remote control or sumthin like that.

they do make remote starters for PCs. You attach it to your ATX adaptor. But im sure you can make some sort of switch with a IR led sender and reciever.

I saw it on an XBOX mod site a while back. The guy used a cheap doorbell from a hardware store. Just gotta wire it up, seems pretty simple. Worked great :D.

Here's 2 tutorials for remote:

or
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xir.php

Here's the cheap way out :)

made this to show u what i meant. i don't know the english word for relais, i think it's relay. this way it would work 100%, if u want to, u could even keep the bell ;) but don't forget to set the bell on a short single signal, otherwise the computer will shut down after being started :). now i gotta get a remote bell and write a howto for that...

didnt try those, but 9 and 7 worked.

pins 9 and 7 provide power to the reciever while the computer is off.

to turn it on i am going to attach the speaker wires in parallel to the powerbutton
