well d'uh?

I've been thinking about the same thing myself... I've had this case for almost a year now and I'm thinking about making it into something ppl usually like and then sell it... I think you should do the same: finish the Green Lantern and sell it

well the thing is, i didnt do a very good job on some of the parts, specifically the side window. Granted i could redo it to make it look better, but i dont thik i would be able to sell it. I would also probably salvage some parts from this case as well, probably the mobo tray if i can cut it out cleanly, and maybe some other things.

wheee double post-ish

anyway i made a 3d model of what i kinda want the layout to be. sadly i used polygons instead of nurbs so i cannot color them. i would have to use pchop, but thatd be xtra work, so its all grey.

anyway here you see the cube
Image
i plan to mount the psu on the bottom, it may be dead centerin the case, and will have a channel that will isolate it from everything else, and will be cooled by a crossbreeze . one fan on the front, one on the back, one blowing in one blowing out.

the hdds will be mounted on either side of the channel, and will be cooled independently from the psu, by even more fans. Above this will be the motherboard mounted either directly on the psu heatsheild, or on a piece of plexi risen above the heatsheild. the cdrw will either be mounted directly on the heatsheild or at the to of the case. the front may look similar to the earlier sketch I made, however there would be only one fan at the front.

lastly the area with the psu and hdds would not be visible, however above it the motherboard would be completely visible, when the computer is on. otherwise it will look like a shiny black cube, with brushed metal edges. :D

now i just need some money. :(

(edit: also if anyone has the Maya PLE 4.0 (it comes with unrealtournament 2003)i can send you the 3d file (just tell me your email), and if you are better at it than i you could help me out with some of the modeling techniques. i may hawever redo this with NURBS surfaces so i can color it)

nice idea. if i did a cube, i'd cover the plexi sides with aluminium. this way, i could cut out nice designs and cover the plexi for transport. but your project seems to be kinda better :)

believe me, i wont.

i made some new renderings WITH COLORS :D they arent the real colors tho, its just so i could tell stuff apart.

psu=yellow
cdrw=grey
hdds=pink
mobo=green(the cube on the mobo is supposed to be the cpu hs)

also, if you look closely you can see that the hdds and the psu are in separate compartments, there is a piece of plexi in there. :D

these last two have the side panels attatched as well, so the fans arent floating anymore.

right now i have 6 fans, 2ccfls, 2hdds, cdrw, athlonxp2700+, and radeon 9600xt. and leds. all running off of 300watts.

though that may explain why i fried the fdd when i put leds in it.
