Niin ni kumpi on se leveällä piuhalla oleva kun ei oikeen ole tuonne aivo koppaan ajautunut tuo tieto...
Kun rupeaa olemaan pikkasen täynä tämä vanha.

Siis molemmissahan on fyysisesti samanlainen se kaapeli. PATA eli parallel ata on se vanha leveä nauhakaapeli jos sitä meinasit.

Ulkoisesti SATA ja SATA2 identtiset, mutta käsittääkseni SATA2:sessa menee muutama johdin enemmän.

Vanhaa leveää kaapelia kutsutaan myös IDE- tai ATA-kaapeliksi, tuon PATA:n lisäksi.

Kyllä noi SATA1 ja SATA2 käyttää täysin identtisiä kaapeleita.

Hmm... Oon kyllä katkaissut pari SATA-kaapelia ja toisessa oli muutama johdin enemmän, kuin toisessa :roll:

Oot varmasti ihan oikeassa, epäilen että on kuitenkin enemmän kyse eri valmistajien kaapeleiden eroista.
Taitaa liittyä häiriösuojaukseen, varmaan enemmän maadoitusjohtimia ollu. Vähän sama kun noitten kaapeleiden liittimien eroja, joissakin on se metalliklipsu ja joissakin ei.

I only get on now every now and then but I DO try to keep up, and when I saw this I just HAD to ask...

I do "get it" that the older cables had allot more wires fro the data transfer(s) and I also kinda understand that in time things improve, but what made the tech or speed or WHATEVER it was improve so much so that you can now access a HD with so many fewer connections (wires)

WOW, OK, if that was to hard of a question, how about the difference between SATA and SATA2.

For SATA2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA#SATA_3_Gbit.2Fs

The difference is in the operating frequency. This is why the same cable and connector works but the controllers both in the motherboard and on the hard drive needs to support the specified speed.
