can you increase the number of leds to eight and if there is any alterations
what are they ???

Only limiting factor is the current handling capacity of the transistors. For example BC547 can handle around 100mA so with 20mA leds that would mean total of 5 leds. With higher power transistor you can naturally drive more leds.

i mean the resistors that come before the transistors, the ones that are 47k?? do they have to be swapped ???

No. Leds and those resistors have nothing to do with each other. They just control the function of the lm324 chip, not the leds or the transistors.

i noticed with this circuit the leds will pulse then wait four seconds to pulse again what modifications would i need to make it pulse more often, prefferably not faster but every two seconds??
