I was wondering where, you would stick a diode to prevent reverse voltage protection, if someone put the power on the wrong way. also what type of diode too. I am ruinning it at 5V

By the way, its great circuit. I have it fading from 2 red, to 3 red and 3 blue, the cool thing is that the blue come on a few seconds later and go out a few seconds earlier as they are a different voltage to the red. so its sort of a three way fade... Its going in a science fiction prop, and lights up the 'reactor' :D

Just a regular germanium diode works just great. For example one of these:

You have to remember that when you connect a diode to your circuit, it drops the voltage a bit. 0.3 - 0.7 volts depending on the diode.

You can place the diode for example to the + wire coming to the circuit from the power supply. The "ring" side of the diode should be facing the circuit.
