The original circuit by Bill Bowden (provided by the link)
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Bill_Bowden/page5.htm#eyes.gif
Was done with a LM1458 ,8pin IC. But the circuit made on this site and Bill's second schematic showing two sets of LEDs, uses a LM342, 14pin IC.

I was just wondering if it matters which one is use since the same number if pins are used in both schematics. :? :?:

Thanks for you time :)

Shouldn't matter how many legs there are. Only important thing is that there are at least two opamps inside the chip. LM342 have four so you could extend the circuit with two independed faders if needed. So, both chips will work just fine.
