yea thats exactly what I did. It works very well,gives off 5V so you dont need that big of a resistor. heres all my pics........

I used 3.3v blue leds from www.lsdiodes.com with 100ohm resitors......you can find a led calculator here

Just look at how I have everything, its simple

honetsly though the thing i dindt understand was how 3 leds could be powered by 5v when then leds are 3.3v themselfs..............if that is your case the answer is that you are wireing them in paralell and they just pull more power to supply everything.

yes i am still sort of a noob to electronics, but my LCD has redeemed me somewhat.........after I get my VU meter made then i think i will be worthy 8)

I have three blue 5mm infared high-output LED. i want to use a usb wire to power them. could someone please tell me how to do just that. please be very specific, leave out no details.

what do you want ot use them with????? Because you wont be able to see the light unless you reflect it off of mirrors a couple times.

Dude real sweet pad, first time making one myselr and having real problems. i too want to use a USB port for power. could you email me and tell me exactly how you did it, please desperate. cptaunt@comcast.net thanks for all your help. i have three blue 5mm high-output 5mm infared led's are these the wrong ones to use for usb?

its not rubber, its just a black mouse pad. I think it was belkin or sumtin. $.99 at walmart :D
