 Post subject: Ice Wheel mod
PostPosted: 20.04.2004 17:26
I want to change my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical with the Ice Wheel mod. The thing is, I dont know what size LED I need and what size resistor. I will be putting in a blue LED that I can buy from www.ADPmods.com

Here's the exact link:

http://www.adpmods.com/xcart/customer/home.php?cat=54

I dont know which blue LED to go for, the 3mil or the 5mil, and I dont know which resistor to get either.

I'm quite the n00b to electricity too. If anybody has a in depth tutorial about making the actual LED part.. the Firewheel tutorial is great to show you how to make the wheel, but then it gets quite vague about the actual LED.

Thanks for any help

Both the 5mm and the 3mm should fit in your mouse. I would go with the 5mm because the light would be brighter. The resistor matters on how bright your LED is and stuff like that.

unfortunatly that is not true...price and size is the only common difference...3mm leds can as easily reach over 10000mcd just like a 5mm can...they are both able to be bright...i would go with a 3mm just because yuo don tkonw hoe much room you will have in your mouse so the smalled led the more room...and use the led calculator the splintercell posted to find teh resistor

:o I cannot believe you are going to settle for those prices! www.lsdiodes.com i could buy almost 4 5mm Blue LEDs for that price. And im doing the same exact mod so try to attach the blue led on that black box thingy and i will reply to you when i figure out what resistor you need.

the reason we shop at lsdiodes is cuz they are extremely reliable. from them ya get the leds in about 3-4 business days. i ordered some leds from someone on ebay last week(3 bux for 10 leds and 10 resistors), still aint gotten the leds, ive orderd from this guy b4, so i know that it takes a while to get the leds.

while its cheaper to get them somewhere else, it also takes longer to get them from somewhere else.
