Yes there is. They can be bought separatelly like other leds or like some people like to buy these keychain-uv-light-money-checker. :) Small devices that can be used to detect watermarks.

As an anecdote; there's also UV light bulbs that fit regular light bulb connector. Needless to say it would be quite unusable inside a computer (heat, anybody? ;)) but can create nice effects with very low cost somewhere else, like around the computing area (think of keyboards and monitors painted with transparent UV paint and then few hidden UV light bulbs around :D)

eled.com has uv leds. I bought 2 of them and yes they do cost a lot. I have an orb heatsink and it glows in uv light so I really only needed one.

My next project may be to paint the traces on some of my expansion cards in uv paint (and get a few more leds). That would look cool  .

Post subject: Is this possible ???
PostPosted: 16.11.2002 01:14
I'm in the beginning of my modding career and want to make it quite nice in 1. try.. or seccond ;) - But anyway I've ordered a green Lazer LED + etched window kit etc.. fx. green LED- Antec Green 8 cm. fan.. but anyway my Q is - How much does a UV-LED cost aprox? - And would it work to install only one or 2 of those inside the cabi. together w. the green light L-LED? - Can u use it simmultaniously? And will u then have the green light together w. the UV effect on fx. a paintet fan or card edges?

And is it possible w.out to much trouble and wrecking to detach a ThermalTake Silent Viking Cpu cooler and paint the fan in the way showed here?

- Thx..

-Swebbe

ok ...i looked at the leds and the ones i found cost about ~$3-4 each...with one you should be able to light a fair ammount of your case...the only problem is the direction..a led viewing angle is nowhere near that of a ccfl...and yes it will work with your lazer led...just put them in parallel...as for the fan let someone else awnser

From HongKong, Kerava.
----
Keravan PingPongista eli Honkkarista. Siellä on sellainen sairaan kokoinen loota täynnä niitä. Ollut jo vuodenvaihteesta ja vieläkin niitä riittää... Ja tavallisiakin ledilamppuavaimenperiä on about samaan hintaan (1e / 2e), eli halvemmalla kuin pelkkä ledin hinta. Arvaa vaan, miksen ole lähtenyt ledejä Partcosta asti hakemaan... Ja arvaa vaan, onko myyjät kattonu vähän pitkään kun olen ostanut joku 20 avaimenperävaloa kerrallaan...
