I bought an orange led from Elfa.se (artikelnummer 75-037-74). It said that it was 11140 mcd. But when I tried it, it was very weak. Even a 1000 mcd diode was brighter. It is 2V, but I tried it with 3V. Can that be the reason for it being so weak?

With higher voltage it can be dimmer because the led is heating up rapidly and thus preventing it from working correctly. You should also check the brightness by looking directly to the led. These high mcd leds have very low viewing angle and it may seem less bright when you look it from outside of that angle.

I have bought those exact LEDs and I concur with what Japala said.

I'll try the LED using a resistor. I have tried looking directly into it, but it is still not very bright. It's weird though. Every other LED i have are very bright even though I give them a little too much voltage, but this one.
I'll let you know.
And Rauter, if you have the time and possibility, couldn't you try connecting one of your LEDs of that type to a 3V power source, and see if it is much dimmer?

The LED is supposed to get only 2 volt. Diffirent LEDs react diffirent when they get to much power. Use a resistor that lowers the voltage to 2 volt
