Modify a wireless RF doorbell. Transmitter doesn't need any modification and receiver is usually quite easy to modify to control about anything. Just remove the bell and replace it with suitable relay.

no i dont have these kind of things in my countri stores. the doorbell will sure work fine but i got thinking that a RadioFequenci (RF) is much better, you can activate your copmuter with RF from another room, or even outside your department but with IR you have to be close and aim at the reciver. so no, i havent tried anything jet, iäm going to built me a plexi case, if thats finished then i will get hackin on that RF system, heres a few links if youd like to make one system your self

THANKS for the Links. It seems that you have put ALLOT of thought into this case. And the RF DOES sound like it would work much better because you do no need LOS (Line of Sight) for it to work.

Now tell me, HOW do you figure out the frequency of a RF "whatever". I have NO IDEA on how to do that with a Multi Meter. ( I say with a MM, because it seems that they do just about everything else needed. Grin )
