As I read this mod I thought that it was very cool indeed, but I also thought that it's a shame the color doesn't shine through so well. My idea is to use two pieces of plexi glass, one on top of the other. the top layer would have the transparency and white paper on the back. The bottom layer would have an etched surface (only where the picture is) and then a few white LEDs plugged into the sides to illuminate the picture with white light rather than your inner case lighting.

hmm....i think i understand what you are saying and that may very well aid in illuminating the picture but the drawback is the thickness that would result...you could use 2 or 1 mm plexi but it is harder to put a led in those yet if you use 3 or 5mm plexi which is easy to put an led in then the total thickness is a little more then a conventional window

While that is true that the thickness of two 5mm plexi sheets would be overly thick, you could use a 1mm plexi for the front sheet and 3 or 4 for the back sheet... just a thought anyway.

That is whack...

My opinion is that it depends on your case lighting... Obviously if you have little light emitting through your windows, you can't use dark colours...

My thought is that they would look better at night... and also that the mod seems applicable to cathode light use.

I mean think about it.. all it is, is a pic on your window... as if it were a painted panel but it's removeable... If you want light to shine through it, put some light behind it...
