it's not yet finished! I did the circuit to test it, but will redo it to be smaller and to fit where I want it to fit heh.
It'll be nice on the front when finished

what guide did you use forthe VU meter?

Funny u'd ask ... I used http://electronickits.com/kit/complete/ligh/ck1005.pdf but IT DIDN'T WORK! After analysing it, I found out that it was inputting a negative voltage into the IC; and I checked with the IC information, and the IC takes from 0V to 25v or something like that. Either I wired it wrongly, or else the schematic is a bit off. So I modified it and removed the first few capacitors connected to the pin 5 (connected the audio voltage with pin 5) and it worked well and good. The capacitors are probably to smoothen out the effect, so they are not too needed.

Check out this url : http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM3915.pdf#page=1 It gives a really simple schematic around the LM3915 IC. VERY simple to implement. Stick with it.

I'll also use a ribbon cable to go from the circuit to the LEDs, to have some freedom.
Cheers![/url]
