Got tired of moving my (huge) computer to livingroom every time we want to watch DVDs so i started to build HTPC for livingroom. I will use old components lying around.

I made one computer to normal miditower case but my family told me it is too ugly in livingroom so i started to search old/broken audio/video stuff enough big and stylish.

Now i finally found it. This is Pioneer A-757 amplifier. Big enough to fit all components in and enough nice looking for my family.

It is broken and my neighbour was unable to fix it so he sold it to me. Cost only 5€.

Now i start to take all junk out from the case and i will hit u some more pictures later.

I'd like to see you use those knobs for volumecontrol and so on, and that lovely hardcore heatsink it has :)

I think i will build small amplifier and use the volume control knob for that. Thise heatsinks will go to another project that is on hold at the moment cause i havent found proper tools to do it yet.

yea that looks like a good case to start with. I was actually thinking about doing one of those myself, but after my current mod is done, im looking into something more creative.

Took a while and some force to take all guts away but finally i made it empty. Pic 4

I cutted motherboard tray out from old case and it fits nicely in the amplifier case. Pic 5 Here u also can c some components i will use.

Outside tha system will stay black but inside of the case will be metallic violet. Color will not be visible when case is closed. I will paint the inside of the case just for fun. She choosed the color :)

i already like it :) this is going to be a sweet mod :) and imo you should buy some of those "pre made" amplifier pcbs which are like 20 or 30 watts per channel to save on time tho i have nothing about fully self made circuits i just learned all the possible problems during pcb making the hard way :)

All hardware installed in the case here. Thunderbird 950MHz, 128+128+256=512MB 133MHz SDR, MSI K7T Turbo2, 15GB HDD, BBA Radeon 64DDR ViVo, D-Link 10/100 card.

After i placed some soft material under the HDD it came enough silent.
System is quite silent but i must make the CPU-fan run slower. Maybe i build fan controller of some kind.

Next i must build cover for the DVD tray hole. i will use tinted plexi.
