Japala aika tarkalleen 4v sitten kirjoitti ohjeen modlabin tekemiseen:
http://www.metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n=1&path=mods/modlab/index
Japala write 4 year ago guide to make modlab:
http://www.metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n=1&path=mods/modlab/index_eng

Monesti sellaiselle olisi itselläkin tarvetta ollut, niinpä vihdoin modlabin
päätin rakennella. En kylläkään viitsi noin isoa siitä tehdä, vaan tarkoitus rakentaa se halpahallin yleismuuntajan sisälle.
Many times i have needs thatlike thing, so finally i start build my version of it. I don't want so big, what's Japalas modlab, so i build it in Universal AC Adaptor.

Yleismuuntaja robin hoodista 4.90€.
Universal AC Adaptor from supermarket 4.90€.
Image
Image

Muuntaja kasassa 3:lla "suoja"ruuvilla.
Adaptors 3 "security"screw.
Image

Naulasta hioskelin työkalun niiden irroittamiseen.
I make releasetool from nail.
Image

Muuntaja avattuna.
Adaptor opened.
Image
Image

Poistin tarpeettomat jännitteen- ja napaisuudenkatkaisijat.
I remove needless voltage- and polarityswitch.
Image
Image

Porasin reiän ps/2-liitintä varten.
Drilled hole to ps/2 connector.
Image
Image

Vanhasta emosta talttasin tupla usb-liittimen irti.
Ripped double-usb from old motherboard.
Image

Sen sitten muokkasin yksittäiseksi usb-liittimeksi.
I modify it to lonely usb-connector.
Image
Image
Image

Sitten leikkelin paikan molex-liittimelle.
Cutted place to molex-connector.

Basically the idea is to build a modlab pover source inside a cheap-ass PS.

1.st and 2nd image: general mayhem'
3rd image: the "safety screws" used to hold it together
4th: The nail modified to unscrewing them screws
5th the PS opened
6th same shit, different packed
7th needless polarity and voltage switches removed
8th drilled a hole for the PS/2 connector
9th a dual USB connector whacked of an old motherboard
10th dual USB converted to single usb
11th same shit as above
12th USB connector installed
13th Molex connector hole cut/ Complete modlab mini.

Hiukan pakkelia.
Using plastic padding.
Image

Hiottuna.
Grinded.
Image

12v ja 5v regulaattorit Clas Ohlsonista.
12v and 5v regulators from Clas Ohlson.
Image

En ole ennen regulaattoreita käyttänyt, niinpä testausviritelmän kolvailin. 12v regusta tulikin vain n.8v. Hetken päätä raavittuani testasin toista 12v regua ja johan oikeat lukemat tuli. Olikin ensimmäinen regu viallinen.
I haven't use regulators before, so i make test. 12v regulator give only about 8v. I wondering some time and try other regulator. Now it give right readings. So, first regulator was faulty.
Image

Regut kiinnitän muuntajan rautasydämeen jotta lämpö pääsee hiukan
leviämään. Modilabia ei ole tarkoitus pitkiä aikoja käyttää, niinpä ei suurempia jäähdytyssiilejä tarvitse.
I attach regulators to adaptor ironheart at heat spread.
Image

Lukkopihdit ovat tarpeen, koska rautasydän on peltilevyistä kasattu ja
muuten ne leviäisivät poratessa. Reikä porattuna ja 4mm kierre vääntymässä.
Lockpliers is need, beacause ironheart is made to metalplates.
Hole drilled. Making 4mm screw thread.

Image

Valmis kierre.
Finished screw thread.
Image

Kiinnitysruuveja piti lyhentää ja kannat hioa ohuemmiksi, jotta ne mahtuu
kotelon sisään.
I grind screws at them can fit inside adator case.
Image

Regut kiinni ruuvattuina.
Regulators attached.
Image

Konkka ja regujen sisääntulot kolvailtuna. Merkitsin 5v ja 12v jottei regut
mene sekaisin.
Kondensator and regulators wires soldered. I marked 5v and 12v at i remember whitch is which.

Usb-liitin on hiukan liian pitkä mahtuakseen pohjaan asti.
Usb is too long to fit well.
Image

Piirilevystä pitää leikata palanen pois.
Must cut piece of circuitboard.
Image

Leikkauksen myötä katkeavat johtimet korvasin hyppylangoilla.
Soldered wires at circuit work after cut.
Image

Leikattuna.
Cutted.
Image

Johdot molexin mukaisissa väreissä.
Wires in same colour witch them are in molex.
Image

Kotelo kiinni testausta varten. Päälipuoli on nyt maalattu mattamustalla.
Case shut at i can test it. Cover is now painted black.
Image

Reguloinnin tulos: 11,77v ja 4,94v.
Regulators make: 11,77v and 4,94v.

Well, botia goes about it again.
Opelruns 2nd post with photos
1st image Some spackel
2nd image some grindin' done
3rd 12 volt and 5 volt regulators bought from Clas Ohlson
4th I havent been using regulators before, so I welded one for testing purposes. The 12 volt regulator only gave 8 volts, so after some head scratching I went to test the second 12V unit, which gave me the right values. The first one seemed to be faulty.
5th I will attach the regulators on the iron core of the transformer, in order to let the heat spread out a bit. The modlab is not ment for long term use, so any serious cooling will not be necessary.
6th the locking pliers are necessary since the core is made out of iron sheets which would spread out while drilling. The image: The hole has been drilled and 4mm rifling (?) is being made.
7th Rifling completed
8th I had to shorten the screws and grind the bases smaller in order to fit them in.
9th regulators screwed in.
10th The elCo and regulator leads welded in. I marked 12v and 5v to avoid mix ups.
11th General mayhem

Opelruns 3rd post with photos
1st image: The USB connector is too long to fit all the way in
2nd so therefore a piece of the circuitboard must be cut off
3rd removing parts also removed some copper. Copper parts are replaced with jump leads
4th USB connector fitted in, with the CB cutout
5th The wiring made in accordance with MOLEX connector wiring colors
6th The cover replaced for testing purposes. Now painted matte black
7th The results of the regulation: 11,77v ja 4,94v

Muista, että clas ohlson on myös tampereella, helsingissä,espoossa, vantaalla, vaasassa ja kuopiossa, että siinä on jo hieman valinnanvaraa xP
