I dont know about in the UK, but here in the US I was forced to go to a specality glass dealer. If you go to a home improvement store, they have plexi glass, but they can't cut you a peice of 1/4" plexi (its to thick for them to cut). They will however sell you a 4' by 5' sheet of the stuff for thirty or fourty some odd dollars. Little to pricey for me, so I called around to several glass dealers and I found one that would sell me so scrap, which is all you really need , for a few bucks. :)

which thickness would be good to use for this mod and with 5mm leds from that robotcombat site. im thinkin the 1/8" would be the best. not to thick, not to thin. Any help would be appreciated. Also, wouldnt it be the same thing if u were to get a computer case window. their basically the same thickness, made of acrilic. sometimes cheaper. on pcmods I found a 12"x12".118"(not to sure of the thickness) for $11.02 after shipping for me.

Post subject: Plexiglas thick 1/2 "
PostPosted: 30.08.2004 18:55
Hi,

Looking at plexiglas 1/2'" thick to use on top of our screen porch. Will a 48x96 " sheet x1/2 work?? or will it sag in the middle?? Do I have to go to a thicker size??

Thank you , john

umm we dont make windows that big, maybe call the company and ask how strong the stuff is, or construct a grid that will support the window.

i agree......you might also want something that is like an inch or more thick for a porch window depending on where it is (ex. sky light, wall window)

Can try ebay! Or get acrylic or lexan or polycarbonate or perspex. There's plenty of names for it. plexi is just a brand name which is expensive! Cheapest quote I got for 1m squared is £90 for plexi. For another brand, don't remember the name, for the same size it cost me £10
