wow. i never knew they were so thin. would i get the same effect if i carved out the plexi like you did for the leds, except go all the way around the pad, and then just put 3 tubes in it, 2 on the sides and 1 in the middle?

4 months later im looking back at my posts and i cant believe how idiotic i was acting. sorry. anyways, im still cant find any cloth thats sutible. will neoprene (the stuff used to cover car seats, the type u pull over to wterproof the seats)work? its a little bit more like rubber.

If the mouse glides over it ok and it doesn't collect dust that much it should be usable.

Hmmmm i wonder how 800, 000 mcd LED's would go with this, :P , there like blinding :P

Well i would preffer using the rubber part of my mouse mat cause it would give me the softer touch.

But i guess its just your personal preferance.

has anyone tried to use a clear material with optical mice.

Im thinking some window frosting might allow enough scattering for the optics to work. or maybe some architetural vellum or plastic. or even metallic based window tint.

i want a nice complete glow of the entire surface.

How about just getting a 1/2 plexiaglass. Drill a 1/4 hole on the ends and put your LED's into them. it will light up and you can use a exching chemical to scuff the glass so your optical mouse will work.
