How did you guys keep from cutting through. I use the same tool but alot of test tries i cut through the plexi.

Well if you get a Dremel, there is a routing attatchment for it that will allow you to choose how deep you can go. Thats what im using and it works GREAT!

I did it freehanded and it wasn't that hard to keep the depth right. Just take slow and it should go well. Just keep your finger on the opposite side where the carving bit is and you will feel if the bit is getting too close to the surface. Also a choice of material is quite important here. Some soft acrylic can be really to carve through but stuff like Plexi can be really tough and you can't "drill" through it that easily because it is so tough.

Or just cut all the way through and put a rubber foot on the bottom so the pad doesnt slip if you like, and then fill in with hot glue and put another pad on top...if I had a pic I would show you mine, I cut the plexi for my current mousepad with gel wrist rest(love that pad-got it at TJ Max of all places heh) and i just got some 1mm thick smooth rubber and put that on the bottom and it lights up the sides just fine.
