Hi!
I'm making a logomouse but i have a problem now...
I have started with this guide. (http://metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n=1&path=mods/logomouse/index_eng)
I have soldered the led and the resistor on the chip:

But when i connect the mouse to the computer and pull the end of the diode and resistor together, the led is light, but then the mousepointer freeze...
And when i drop the ends, the mousepointer works again...
I can't see what's wrong.
The diode is 2 volts, 20 mA and 4700 mcd and the resistor is 150 ohms.

I'm not quite sure what is wrong because I compared your IC to the pic database and you should be taking the power from the right pins. If that pointer freezes that usually means that you are taking the power from a data line. The light ligths up nicely but the data in that line will be lost and the pointer doesn't move. Check that PIC16Cxxx marking on top of the chip and use google to track down the datasheet for it. This will then tell you what pins will have +5 and ground. Other solution would be to use power directly from that mouse cord and not feed it through the IC legs.

As you can see from this image, my mouse uses a different chip than yours. I'm not sure if that is just relabeled PIC but you should check that datasheet of that PIC in your mouse.

so is it possiable to hook up the led to a data pin on the chip. also, i was thinkin if u were to hook up 2 leds in a serial circuit, then do the same with 2 more, that would give u 2 pairs of leds, ok then u take the too and hook up the 2 sets in a paralel(cant spell it right). and hook the leds up to the 5v line, it should split the power betwee the leds that are in series then the ones in paralel, or would it. If no one understands that ill see about doin a little pic and explain it better. Im just wondering if that would work.

I found the datasheet of my IC and it should be the middle-legs....
My IC is PIC16C58A...

i didnt think anyone would, i barely understood it the way i typed it.lol anyway heres the pic, if ya understand it. The way i drew it, it shows power from the molex 5v line. but im sure it could be applied to the 5v line for a mouse.

This really doesnt apply to this thread exactly, but it is for this mod. Basically to just get more light inside the mouse, if possiable. that what i am askin is this possiable??
