ive had an idea that ive been tossing around for teh past few days.

i've been thinking about building a plexiglass cube case, however i would have to drop my current green lantern project. i am willing to do this, i dont really like the case. i guess my question is should i drop green lantern, or finish it, only to build the plexi case afterwards.

I'd say finish what you start, but if it'll cost a conciderable amount of money while you don't like it, it's better to spend it on something you do like. All by all, give it a few days thought.

Oh cmon splinty. You can do better than that. If you dont like it, MAKE it so that you do like it. Mod the crap out it. In fact, TURN green lantern INTO your plexi cube! Green lantern...plexicube?

I agree, you should always finish your mods b/c in the end they usually turn out to be what you really want. Its been taking me a while for my current project, but im not gonna give up.

well i have thought of that, but the case itself is really too small, i would like a bigger case. other than that GL is almost done, it just needs paint really, and a few more cosmetic mods.

going with Qs suggestion of transforming it into a plexi cube, i could do that, i could just shift the project over to a cube. everything will still be green cause i dont want to have to buy new lights, besides, i have thought of some really cool ideas for the cube, whereas im running out of ideas for my current case.

just a preliminary sketch i made in photoshop
Image
the white parts are for placement and such, colors are not exact, im just getting a feel for what it should look like. the small round white parts are a power and resed switch, i will also have a fanbus somewhere on the front, but im not sure where.

i also know that i want to have stealthed windows like in the macro black case, i want them on the 5 visible sides

Damn thats one abstract looking mother. I was looking at it the wrong way for like 20 seconds trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

Unless you could build a real nice fanbus, Id suggest stealthing it. I would say simplicity is key in a plexi case. Plus, I dont think Ive ever seen a stealthed fanbus 8O

I hope you're not going for just transparent plexiglass. The plan you drew made me hope to see a case with dark, black, transparent plexiglass, kinda the effect of tainted carwindows. Maybe some lights from in it, shining out, adding some foil at the inside to shape the shining...

exactly, stealthed windowscheck out macro black to see what i mean

and heres an idea for a stealthed switchbay.
Image

its basically a drawer withe the switches mounded on a plate at a 45degree angle to the rest of the drawer. it would be completely stealthed, when the panel is pushed in a little it would pop out just enough to grab it and slide out the whole way, when finished with it it could be clicked back into place.

Why not let it roll out until the top part of the switches're at the same level as the rest of the sidepanel, then, when it's done, needs another tick to make it roll back in? System shouldn't be too hard to think out for you, and it'd give that extra touch that goes along with such a stealthed case.
