now im a complete moron when it comes to electricity. i know only that you can kill yourself with it =p

now you say that a mouse has 5v of power, so if i use a blue led which from your chart gets 4-5v then i dont have to use a resistor?

That really depends on the actual specs of the LED you buy. If it actually has a rating of 5V then no you don't need a resistor. But the range the Japala has given in the chart is just that a range. There is no way in telling if you will need a resistor till you actually have the LED you're going to use in your hands. Once you have it, then using the forward voltage listed on the specs of the LED you can then choose a suitable resistor.

even if you have a led with 4.1-5v forward current then it is still good to use a resistor...if not only for surge protection
