I've had a bit of difficulty drilling a hole through a AMD athlon 1200+, it's plated with ceramic plates so a normal drill won't do...

If I had time i'd try it with dremel...

wow i wouldn't use a 1200+ chip for a keyring in the first place... but i have been doing that for a while with old amd k6 chips and selling them to friends. if you feel like destroying and newer cpu's throw them my way first

Well my father scorghed one 1200+ athlon and one 800mhz duron in timeframe of 20 minutes.. He had bought a new titan cooler for his CPU, the built in attacher thingie was broken and two processors got scorghed... Well, the next day at work, he ordered new CPU from verkkokauppa...
Pretty expensive cooler though.
(so no I'm not so rich I can just use expensive working equipment as key rings... ;)

Intel used to make really nice keyrings with all the returned processors after the floating point fiasco. The nice thing is that they only used the core on a fake metal plate then encased the exposed core in clear plastic.

It would be really nifty with an AMD chip if it is possible to pop the metal cover off the core to expose the traces.

I made one out of an old stick of RAM, too, but only because hole was already there. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have thought of it.
