The rest of the design really just evolved during a couple of months of CAD-design. The materials were chosen with durability in mind. The shell of the case was going to made out of 3 mm thick aluminum. That way it would be stiff and strong enough for a LAN-case, and I would be able to countersink the screws into it. The other parts of the case were going to be made of polycarbonate.
