The iPhone dock

So now we have to integrate the iPhone to the iTalkman. For this I bought a clear and hard "ice case". It consists of two parts, one on the bottom and one of the top side of the phone.

This is more or less the space where the iPhone will be mounted. The area where the Talkman's display and most of the keypad were located will have to go.

Time to get aggressive with a Dremel rotary tool. There were some holes left by the original buttons on the handset that had to be filled in.

Pieces are coming together. Just testing how the handset feels now that it has been modified. You can imagine how top heavy this thing is when there is an iPhone docked in.
Charging

One of the most important features that I wanted this thing to have was a fully functioning charging dock. For this I got an USB cable that hooks up to the 30 pin iPhone connector at the bottom of the phone. You can see from the photo that I've already removed the top part of the case so one can slide in the iPhone and dock it to the headset.
At this moment the case and the cable are two different things so we need to make them one.

The end result doesn't need to be pretty but it needs to be strong enough to keep the connector aligned propetly so that the phone can dock with it correctly when it is pushed down the case.
