Conclusion

Sound is better than I assumed it to be. Bass is easy to follow, and it sounds generally really dry and precise. Single 10" driver won't shake your house, but still it does pretty good job in movies adding lots of depth. I wish SEAS made this same driver in 15" or at least 12" size. Seas seems to integrate really well with Genelecs and it's impossible to hear which notes come from the subwoofer and which not when listening to music. Now I finally own a subwoofer that can be left on all the time, even when listening to music critically. I don't own measurement equipment, it would be nice to know if this sub measures as well as it sounds.

Cost of this subwoofer is somewhere between 700 and 800 euros. The box could be made cheaper, now it took around 200 euros of the budget.

Big thanks to Hifitalo.fi for making this project possible!

  • Very slick and clean build, good job.
You mentioned in the article that you were considering aluminum panels. I'm quite a fan of the brushed aluminum look. How much more expensive would the build have been with the aluminum panels?

  • Aluminum would have added extra 100 euros cost.

  • I LOVE IT !!! While I am not a TRUE audiophile or anywhere near close, I LOVE the attention you put into it, and think 100% FOR SURE that this looks like something people would see in a retail store. (Better actually because it was hand crafted (YES this is CRAFTED not MADE IMHO) and the detail once again ROCKS...

  • Hey my name is Schuyler (pronounced Skyler) im 15 and i recently built my own speakers out of a waterbottle, i showed them to my friends and my teachers and they were incredibly impressed. The sound quality is great, anyway right now Im building a rave scene in my locker at school and I ran out of money and I was wondering how you were able to get free electronics?
