Radeon HD68xx series

The new range of cards sports a completely different set of connectors than the HD5-series. This time there are two DVI-connectors, one of which also supports analog output, a single HDMI-connector and two mini-Display port connectors. With some adapter magic these five connections support Eyefinity setups of up to six screens.

The HD6850 is specified at TDP of 19/127 watts and comes with a single six-pin power connector located to the end of the card, but the more power hungry HD6870 has TDP values of 19/151 W and two six-pin connectors at the side of the card. The HD5-series of cards hugely improved the energy efficiency over the old HD4-series, and while this time the improvement isn't quite as large, the specifications still promise a nice improvement in power consumption.

In size comparison there's very little difference with the HD5-series cards. The HD6870 is marginally shorter than the HIS HD5870, and the HD6850 is just a bit shorter than the reference design HD5850. This means the cards will have no trouble fitting into even a bit smaller cases.
