As mentioned earlier, the HDD-cages feel very sturdy and secure, but the downside here is the total lack of vibration dampeners. The HDDs are simply screwed to the cage using long screws and the cage is then mounted to the case with thumb screws. As you can see from the image, all the three HDDs of the test rig were mounted to a single cage. This is the worst-case situation temperature-wise, so users with less drives or drives spread to multiple cages may get even lower HDD temperatures.
On the backside of the motherboard the cabling seems rather chaotic. After some further tweaking the side panel finally slotted into place, but I think just a couple of millimeters would make it easier. Especially the thick 24-pin power cable easily causes problems.
As with the smaller three hundred, Antec didn't use any drive sledges or quick-mount slides here either, so it appears that indeed was a choice they made rather than a way of keeping the price down. A sturdy result they indeed got with all the screws, but I'm starting to think that eight thumb screws for each three-drive cage is already a bit of an overkill.
The installation was very easy process partly due to the huge size of the case, but this shot also makes me wonder how many gamers really need all this space? Yes, there's the Nine Hundred for those who can cope with less space, but I'd really like to see a twelve hundred with nine HDDs and a couple of optical drives bolted into it.
