From the inside

Just like with the Sonata earlier, also the Fusion shares the same basic layout with its predecessor, two chambers with the PSU divided to a thermal chamber of its own. That's where the similarities end, because this time around the DVD drive is located to the right side of the case and there are two HDD cages, both housing two drives. The airflow in the main chamber is very much like in the Sonata Elite, air comes through the bottom, cools the HDDs and then enters the motherboard are and eventually is exhausted by two fans. In the PSU chamber the situation is different as there's no additional fans. This means that if you're using a PSU with the fan mounted to it's side rather than either end, your HDDs are not going to have any airflow. This is also the only real flaw that I see with Antec's design.

A closer look at the drive area shows the DVD-cage on the left. This cage swings open and can be removed easily just like in the original Fusion. In the middle there's the first HDD-area and the divider wall that can be removed and replaced with a fan shroud if necessary. On the far right there's the second HDD-comparment and also the mechanism for the pop-open dust filter.

Look at the rear shows the two fans and also the black plastic air guide that can come handy especially in low-airflow conditions and with passive CPU coolers. The guide is there mainly to block air coming straight from the PCI-vents in to the fans.
Both fans are Antec Tri-Cools and the sizes are 120 mm on the rear and 140 mm on the side panel. Unfortunately both fans also use the four-pin molex connector and built-in fan controller instead of a much more preferred 3-pin fan controller that plugs straight to the motherboard. The four pin connector adds a ton of cable mess and with the on-board fan controller make using external controller pretty much impossible. The 120 mm fan is easy enough to replace as the markets are full of quiet 120 mm fans, but the 140 mm one is a bit harder. For silence-enthusiasts I think two 120 mm fans would have been a better cooling solution.
