Cooling

The fans that come installed in the case are one 120 mm Tri-cool and one huge 200 mm fan also made by Antec itself. The 80 mm green led fan is there just to show how large the 200 mm fan really is. We've seen some of these "oversized" fans in the previous case reviews, and the main problem still remains. Even though huge fans move large amounts of air quietly, if the user isn't quite pleased by the noise level or the fan fails, it's very hard to find a replacement. I'd really love to see some of the popular manufacturers of quiet fans entry the markets of huge fans, so the users of cases like P180 Mini could find even quiter alternatives for the fans that come installed in the case.

Assembly

Antec Mini P180

For everyone who has worked with the P180-cases before, installing a system in the Mini is a breeze. The 5,25" devices are mounted using the drive rails and HDDs can be either mounted with long screws to the upper drive cage, or by using HDD-sledges to the lower cage. The cages are similar to those found in P18x-cases, but now the cage that previously was in the same compartment with the power supply is moved to the top of the case. The DVD-drive was installed to the lower chamber mainly because of easier cable management. The top-most drive bay has been criticised for being too short for longer drives because of the 200 mm fan. Although shorter drives can be installed normally, it still seems to me like Antec mainly ment the top-most drive bay to be used for fan controllers and such.

Fitting a full-size mATX-motherboard may be a bit hard as the rear fan gets in the way, but especially with the drive cages removed, even the motherboard installation isn't really too hard. Even though the lower drive cage is installed in the image, it's still adviceable to remove it when using long graphic cards such as the XFX 8800GTS seen here. The card fits even with the cage in place, but there really is no room for HDDs. The Silverstone power supply used here had a bit too short cables for optimal routing, but even with this unit most of the cables got hidden behind the motherboard tray.

Rest of the hardware installed consists of Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H, E2160, two gigabytes of memory, Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250 GB and a Xigmatek XP-S964 cooler for the CPU.
