Sonata Elite

At first glance it seems like very little has changed since the days of the Sonta 3 (our review of it). The only differences from this angle are the lack of handle on the left side panel and the lack of ventilation holes on the front. Also the colour is still the same, very shiny black that mercilessly shows each and every fingerprint. Back to the basics then? We'll see about that.
The front panel features the normal two USB-connectors, e-sata and headphone and microphone jacks. Behind the door there are three 5,25" drive bays and the power- and reset buttons.

However around the corner there's something totally new, a ventilation hole with a plastic shroud that looks like it's taken from the bonnet of some car. The airflow and HDD cooling are totally remade in the Sonata Elite and this vent, serving as the main intake, is an important part of the new layout.
Having a large ventilation hole on the right side panel may seem like an odd decision at first, but the vent comes with a dust filter and I must tell you this has to be one of the easiest removable dust filter I've seen on any case.

Moving to the rear of the case, there's again really nothing new. Power supply still sits on top, there's a single 120 mm Tri-Cool fan under it and some ventilation holes next to the PCI-slots. These ventilation holes are designed for the radial fan that comes supplied in the bundle. A nice detail that should help especially with GPU temperatures. Both fan controllers are mounted to the rear panel which makes adjusting them a lot easier.

In the Elite also the side panels come lined with sound dampening material. It's just a very thin layer of the stuff, but this should be just enough to stiffen the panel and kill any vibrations on the case. This material is applied to both side panels and also to the roof of the case.
