Overclocking

By default the GF116 core operates at 920 MHz, but we got it up to 1000 MHz. The GDDR5 memories are clocked at 1026 MHz (4104 MHz effective), but they proved to be stable at 1090 MHz (4360 MHz). At higher Vcore the core stretched even a bit higher, but only by 35 MHz.
Benchmarks
- Processor: Intel i7 870 (@4022 MHz)
- Motherboard: MSI P55-GD80
- Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 2*2 GB DDR3 2000 CL9
- Hard drive: Seagate 7200.10 250 GB
- Power supply: Xigmatek NRP-HC1201
- Case: Open air test bench
For performance testing we used the same 4 GHz i7 870 rig as before. Besides the HD5770 we also included other mid-range cards in the graphs to give you a better idea of how the card compares to the more expensive offerings from both Nvidia and AMD.
3DMark11

We ran both the Performance- and Extreme presets of this newest reincarnation of the Futuremark 3Dmark. The results are arranged according to the score of the more demanding Extreme preset.
In the first test the GTX 550 can't quite match the speed of the HD5770. That said, the difference is very small and overclocking helps the GTX past the HD5770 by a clear margin.
3DMark Vantage

Also the 3dmark Vantage is still in our test suite, but we've dropped the Performance-setting and only run the test at "High"-preset. This time the GTX 550 wins the HD5770 by a good 837 points or 10,5%. Overclocking boosts the score by another 525 points.
