The casing of the B3 is made from black anodized aluminum which gives it a very classy look and also helps with the heat dissipation. For a single drive NAS it's a pretty heavy one, which also adds to the overall quality feel.

The bottom of the unit is completely flat and Excito gives you the option to glue the feet to either the bottom or the side of the unit, making it lay flat or on its side on the desk. The antennas can be freely rotated to suit either orientation.

All the connectors and in fact also the power switch are located at the rear panel. The B3 features two gigabit LAN-connectors, two USB 2.0-connectors and a single e-sata connector. There's also a hole for a standard Kensington lock, a power connector and -switch and on WLAN-version the two antenna connectors.

While the B3 is always sold with the hard drive already installed, we appreciate cases that are easy to open. The B3 opens by removing two screws and just pulling the internals out. Very easy in case you want to change the hard drive for a larger one, or replace a broken disk.

The power brick is rated at 3 A 12 V (36 W) which, with the rated power consumption starting from 5-8 W (depending on the hard drive) is enough for the B3 itself as well as some USB-devices.
