Crysis Warhead
"Pulse-racing new installment from 2007.s PC Game of the Year*: Play as Sergeant Sykes and experience a whole new side of the battle. A standard combat mission behind enemy lines becomes critical when you discover your enemies have captured something of vital importance to the ensuing war. It.s down to you to retrieve the cargo, at any cost.
More explosive and dynamic minute to minute game play: new customizable weapons, new vehicles, new photorealistic locations to explore, and a fully interactive war zone to dominate."

Again the 295GTX is clearly ahead of every other card we have. It's also nice to see that the fps scale nicely across the board when comparing one GT200b core in the 285GTX and the two on the 295GTX. For example at the highest settings the results are more than double from the 285GTX with the 295GTX. Across the board, the Nvidia cards are the only ones that are able to post some fps which I would consider playable. AMD hasn't been able to finetune their drivers and card to run the Crysis engine as well as Nvidia.
Far Cry 2
"Far Cry® 2, the next-generation first-person shooter from Ubisoft, will take you deep into the most beautiful but also most hostile environments in the world: Africa! More than just a visual and technological achievement, Far Cry® 2, the true sequel to the award-winning PC game, will provide you with an unprecedented gaming experience."

While using the lower settings, the competition is much tighter between all of the cards, but after AA is included in the settings the 295GTX is once again on a different level. Actually the 295GTX is the only card that posts scores which are all over 60 fps, which I often regard as the minimum for fps gaming.
Conclusion
AMD may have taken back the performance-crown for a while, but Nvidia has once again taken a solid hold of it with the 295GTX. They used the same recipe as before by sandwiching a chunk of aluminum and copper between two cards. It is apparent that this is not the first time Nvidia has done something like this. The card itself is something refined while it is a fairly brute force approach to making a high-performance card. Its not hard to guess that this is the most expensive card-series on the market as it really is the most powerful one. If you want the most punch out of a single card, this really is the card for you if you can bear the expenses. |
