Gainward GTX470 Golden Sample - GOOD

Power Consumption

Unfortunately this is the area where the GTX 470 really fails. The GTX 470 tops the charts by drawing massive 460
watts from the grid, where as the otherwise very similar HD 5850-setup only consumed 311 W under full load. At idle the
numbers look better for the GTX 470, with the difference being only 14 watts.
Noise
Keeping the high TDP of the GTX 4-series cards in mind, it's no surprise the cooling needs to be quite beefy and
unfortunately also noisy. The Gainward design is no exception and under load it gets very noisy. In our over clocking
tests in the open test bed the fans hit 60% speed and even at this level the noise is pretty unbearable. With the card
inside a case and with some gaming sounds on it's bearable, if still very much audible.
