Gainward HD4850 Golden Sample
Package

Gainwards bundle is just about like every other card's. It has the driver CD, DVI-I -> VGA adapter, power adapter, a short manual and the card. Unfortunately Gainward does not include a DVI-HDMI adapter.

Here we get a closer look at the card. This card is actually smaller than the HD4850 reference cards, to be exact, it's exactly the same length as the Palit card. When looked at closely, the cards seem to be the same, with the exception of the plastic parts of the cooler. Both cards are made by the same manufacturer and the only different besides the plastic parts should be the BIOS. This card is clocked at 700 MHz for the core and 1100 MHz (2200 MHz effectively) for the memory or at least this is what they should. As so happens, this card was delivered with the same clock speeds as the Palit card. Apparently the card was flashed with the wrong BIOS, but after fiddling around with the card for a while it ran nice and smoothly at the specified speeds.

Just like with the Palit card, the cooler only cools the GPU-core directly. The memory chips etc. just have to settle for the airflow that the fan gives them.
Overclocking
Just like the Palit card, I had high hopes for this card. This card topped out at 740 MHz on the core and the memory at 1150 MHz.| | Pages: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 | |
