Once again Cooler Master is raising the standard of cooling with air. More and more people are switcing to water cooling these days but still a vast majority of setups are cooled with help of a flowing air. When the wattages on CPUs are getting higher and you still want to keep cooling with air, the only ways to counter the rised heat levels are with either bigger/faster fan or bigger heatsink. Cooler Master decided to make the heatsink bigger and as you can see, it did. 980 grams of copper, heat pipes and an adjustable speed fan were designed to deal with todays and future CPUs.

While the cooler uses an adjustable speed fan, the setup can be bit noisy. The design where copper and aluminum pieces are just places next to each others without any padding or means of keeping them apart, you will get noise. Perhaps the fan isn't perfectly balanced in this test unit and the amount of noise will vary a bit but the fundamental design flaw is still there. Hopefully engineers at Cooler Master will find solution to correct this kind of problems in future products.

I've spotted prices ranging from 50 to 80 euros for this cooler. This makes the cooler reasonable cheap compared to its cooling abilities. I would believe that CPU coolers with heat pipe technologies will get very popular after this. Great cooling power and possibility to make the cooler bit different in shape and size as the more conventinal coolers should offer a base for new and innovative designs. Today, Hyper 6 is the cooler for powerfull air cooling on both P4 and K8 CPUs.
