Benchmarks and results
While I don't have any other decent P55 motherboards to compare the results with, the benchmarking section of the review should mainly give the readers a glimpse on how well the new Intel LGA1156-based CPUs cope against the top of the line AMD 965BE and the older Q9450.

3DMark Vantage
3DMark is a computer benchmark suite by Futuremark Corporation designed to determine the DirectX performance of graphics cards. The full range of 3DMark products ranges are 3DMark99, 3Dmark99 MAX, 3DMark2000, 3DMark2001, 3Dmark2001 SE, 3DMark03, 3DMark05, 3DMark06 and 3DMark Vantage. Every new edition of 3DMark uses the latest in 3D technology to deliver objective and forward-looking measurements for real world performance.

As we can see, the CPU scores don't translate to a better total score every time, even though the same graphics-card is used in all of these tests. This shows that the rest of the system has also it's effect on the scores. Surprisingly enough the AMD 965BE gives the i5 750 a run for it's money when running on stock settings and even with the OC Genie enabled. The i7 870 is in a league of its own however.
3DMark05
Also the older 3dmark05 was still ran, as it nowadays acts as more of a platform-benchmark than a graphical one.

As 3DMark05 is an older benchmark than Vantage, it should be a better benchmark in testing general system-performance than the newer Vantage. The results of 3DMark05 are just about comparable with the results from the newer Vantage.
X3: Terran Conflict
The X3: Terran Conflict is freely available for download and comes with a built-in benchmark which everyone can run on their setups.

In this benchmark we saw something interesting happening. While the 965BE from AMD fell to second last in the standings while at stock settings, it went all the way to fourth fastest while overclocked. Another interesting thing about these results is the fact that the i5 750 got a better score while running with default settings than with OC Genie enabled. This has most probably something to do with Intel Turbo, as OC Genie disables it, in favour for some higher clocks in general. All in all, the differences in this benchmark are fairly small, with the overclocked results of the i5 and i7 CPUs still being able to make a bit of a lead here.
