Used test equipment:
All the tests were made with the system above. The results were measured by motherboard sensors using Motherboard monitor. The cooler was tested both in high and low -modes. During the tests the side panel of the case was open and the temperature inside the case was 32 degrees. ResultsNitrogon

The test results surprised positively. In low mode, the idle and load temperatures are more than ten degrees below the one's with intel stock cooler. In high mode, almost twenty degrees less than the Intel's boxed one. Beside this, the cooler is absolutely silent when using it in low mode and it can be still used in overclocking. When running the fan in high mode the noise produced by it is quite unbearable.

PROS CONS
"Editor's Choice" Award |
The first impression of the Silverstone Nitrogon NT02 was very promising and the expectation were quite high. During the test sessions it came out that NT02 is what the manufacturer has promised: silent and extremely capable. The installation is quite troublesome but still very simple. For couple good things to mention is the possibility to use the cooler with so many different sockets, its silent fan and performance. Unfortunately Nitrogon NT02 is quite big and heavy but as always: size does matter when it comes to cooling. |
