Spectre

The shape of the Spectre is something we haven't seen in quite a while - symmetrical. The gray mouse is slightly wedge-shaped towards the back, and the main buttons cover almost half of the area available. Right on the top of the mouse is a StarCraft II-logo and on the sides are lights similar to those we saw on the Banshee.

While the shape of the mouse is weird, the side profile looks more familiar. It's definitely a design meant for claw-grippers or those who just hold the mouse with their fingertips. Again one can see how long back the main buttons stretch, and also the two thumb buttons on the side of the mouse. So despite the symmetrical shape, the Spectre is designed only for right-handed users.

On the bottom there's the 5600 DPI laser sensor, three very large glide pads and model sticker. What's really interesting here though is the switch with three settings. At first glance one might think it's a switch for the DPI-setting, but actually this sets the force required to press the main buttons. Quite frankly I've never felt the need to alter the switching force, but then again, if someone has, the Spectre is the mouse to get.
Compared

Comparing to the Cyborg R.A.T. 7 and Roccat Kone+ we've reviewed earlier it's obvious that the Spectre is smaller than the other two and also designed for another kind of grip. The side profile isn't actually too different from the R.A.T.'s, just a bit lower, but looking from the rear there's a huge difference in the width. This really goes to show how many kinds of mouse designs there are.
