Benchmarks
When you connect the drive the first time you're greeted with an empty 465 GB NTFS-partition. No .pdf-manuals or back up-programs here like we've seen on a couple of other external storage devices. Just like most 2,5" drives, also the M2 500 GB is whisper quiet even when running the performance tests, you really have to bring your ear next to the drive to hear it's running.

These smaller, 5400 RPM 2,5" drives can never offer as good performance as their 3,5" counterparts, but considering this the M2 scores well in the transfer rate test. At average speed of 67,9 MB it's still two times faster than USB2.0 could support.

The CrystalDiskMark returns similar numbers in the sequential read and write tests and also shows the typical decline in performance when moving towards smaller block sizes.
