Power Consumption

The HD 6950 is also an improvement over the HD 5870 in power consumption, at idle it draws a couple of watts more than the old Radeon, but under load it uses 24 watts less. Overclocking didn't effect the power consumption as we didn't touch the voltages this time. Considering that the card is all-round faster than both the HD 5870 and GTX 560 Ti, this is a very nice result.
Conclusion
This was our first look into the Cayman cards, and just like the HD 68-series, also the HD 6950 turns out to be an excellent card. The performance is all-round really good and it's achieved using less electricitity than before. The HD 6950 Flex also turned out to be a good overclocker, so that's all the common requirements checked. On top of that the Flex can also run three DVI-screens simultaneously, which is a handy feature for all of us with multiple non-DP screens. |
