As mentioned earlier, the controller is a separate unit with the headset-connector at one end and four 3,5 mm and a single USB-connector at the other. With so many connectors and wires running inside it, the cable is thicker and heavier than in most headphones.

On top of the controller there's the main volume controller that also acts as the power switch, on one side are controls for subwoofer and center channel levels and on the other for the front- and rear channels. There's also a switch for turning off the microphone, which also changes the lighting from green to red. The tiny wheels around the controller can be tricky to use in dim lighting conditions and in hurry, but really after you get the settings right, you rarely need to touch them again.

Compared

In side-by-side comparison with the reigning champion - the Corsair HS1A - the PC 510 HDA's are just about the same size, but also different in one key area, they feel much stiffer. In the picture you can see how the Corsairs clamp shut, while on the Trittons there's still a gap of 10 cm between the ear cups. Anyway when you start placing them over your ears it's the Trittons that take the firmer grip. This can be a good or a bad thing, depending on what you like.

For someone like me that wears eyeglasses comfortable headphones are particularly hard to find, but the Trittons proved comfortable to wear. The fake leather ead pads do get rather sweaty, but so does just about all materials in summertime.
