Installation

There's nothing special in installing the power supply or the motherboard, so lets move straight to installing the hard drive. The case comes with five steel hard drive sledges, very similar to those used by Antec and some other manufacturers. The sledges can take both normal 3,5" hard drives as well as smaller 2,5" drives, which is becoming more and more important as the SSD prices are finally getting popular. The drive gets screwed in place through the bottom of the sledge and there are also some rubber grommets to insulate the vibrations.

After getting all the components in place, we tried out the supplied cable hoops. The hoops are re-usable, which is always nice, but don't really provide as nice results as normal zip ties or re-usable velcro ties do. It's a nice idea, but just doesn't work quite as nicely. Maybe combining the screw-thread with a zip tie would be a nice combination of these approaches?

Everything in place. Despite there being the fan-mount in front of the power supply, there's still plenty of room for the PSU. There would also be room to route cables behind the motherboard tray, but the 8-pin power cable was a tad too short. The HDD sledges worked just fine, as did the 5,25" quick locks. The PCI-holders on the other hand feel awfully rattly and don't really hold the cards in place too securely. In long run I think I'd swap those for thumb screws.

On the back side one can see the largely unused cable managing holes on the bottom of the motherboard tray. The test setup only has one HDD and DVD-drive, so there isn't too much cable clutter. One thing to point out is the hole for the CPU-cooler, which should be a bit higher up, or a bit larger for the Abit IP35 motherboard.
