Intro

Projectors are nothing new but the ones that you could carry inside your pockets are. Aiptek is one of the first to introduce this new technology that utilizes LED light to shrink the dimensions of the projector. While it is great thought to go around and project video and still images to the walls and ceilings, one has to remember that this is only the first step on utilizing this technology. These portable units have only a fraction of the luminous power of the regular projectors and it will limit their usefulness. Still, there must be something that one can do with these so let us take a look at Aiptek's PocketCinema V10.

From the box we get the projector, a canvas pouch, a power adapter, a tripod, infrared remote controller, USB and AV cables, a battery, set of manuals and a program CD that contains only the Arcsoft Media Converter.

All in all a very good bundle for such a small product. Especially the pouch was a nice touch as the projector is marketed to be easy to carry around and keep with you. Manuals are multilingual and surprisingly useful.

Remote is small and it can operate all the functions of the PocketCinema. It is powered by a small button cell that will last a lifetime.

Via the AV cable one can hook the projector up to a game console, DVD-player or for example a TV-out from a laptop or computer. Composite and both the left and right audio have a female RCA for them. For computer use, one would have wanted to see a S-Video adapter/cable bundled with the product as now you need to get it separately.

This 1600 mAh battery will power the projector for up to an hour. Great feature when you are on the move and can't use mains power.

Power adapter is relatively beefy with 2 ampere output. It has a regular mini-USB connector at the end. This means that one can use a regular USB port from a computer and laptop to recharge the battery as well.
