Radeon HD 6850
The 255 mm^2 Barts GPU is made in 40 nm process and has 1700 Million transistors. On HD6850 some of the shader units are disabled, so the number in use is 960. The card uses 256 bit memory lane, giving the gigabyte of GDDR5 a bandwidth of 128 GB/s. The reference clock speeds are 775 MHz for the GPU and gigahertz for the memories.
On the rear side of the HD6850 there's not much to see. The cooler is held in place with the usual X-support and a total of 15 screws. These new cards both only have a single CFX-connector for maximum of two cards in crossfire setup.
The cooler assembly removed. The cooler is very similar with the 5-series of cards, there's an aluminum heat sink with a copper base for the GPU, a separate aluminum heat spreader for the rest of the components, and a radial fan rated at 12 V 0,7 A (8,4 W).
The model of the memory chips is H5GQ1H24AR-T2C and they are manufactured by Hynix. The rated clock speed of these chips is 1250 MHz. These chips, as well as the power circuitry, are cooled by the same aluminum heat spreader.GPU
The Barts Pro core of the HD6850 is manufactured on week 37 of this year.
