No matter how many gaming mice we review, there's always something new just around the corner. This time it was a new mouse by CM Storm that caught our attention - the Spawn. We've already reviewed the CM Storm Inferno earlier, but while it was mainly aimed at the MMORPG folk with all its buttons, the Spawn is supposed to be a tool for the FPS-gamers. Now let's see what the newcomer is all about!

Just like so many other gaming mice also the Spawn comes packed in a flashy box with an opening door that reveals the mouse inside. It's possible to feel the shape of the mouse through the covering plastic and with all the specifications and features printed around the box, the packaging is very informative.
Unlike most mice we've seen lately, the Spawn uses a more traditional optical sensor. The maximum sensitivity of 3500 DPI is a bit lower than on laser mice, but really it isn't going to cause any troubles and some even prefer the optical sensor over laser. Other specifications show the mouse is pretty small and wide, it has onboard memory for all the settings and it also uses the 1000 Hz polling rate.
Inside the box is just the mouse and a quick start guide. The driver is available through CM Storm website. Again unlike on so many other mice we've recently reviewed the cable of the spawn isn't covered in nylon sleeve.
