The mice were put through their paces using a soft Roccat Taito King Size as well as a hard Steelseries 9HD mouse pads. The testing included some fast-paced FPS-gaming and normal office tasks, including some careful photo editing. The adjusted 5 and 7 ended up looking very much like the 3, but no matter how I tweaked them, neither just fit my hand as well as some non-adjustable mice like the Mionix Naos 5000 does.

When it comes to the tracking, all of the models fared well in our testing. Around the internet there have been some claims of tracking problems and lag when lifting the mouse from the pad, but we didn't notice such issues. Really the only feature that left room for improving was the side scroll wheel that was rather awkward to use.

Conclusion

PROS
  • Adjustable ergonomics and weight
  • Feeling of quality

    CONS
  • Does not fit my hand
  • Award
    Silver Award!

Overall the Cyborg R.A.T. mice are an interesting new concept and have also received much attention around the net, and it's easy to see why. While there are endless mouse models from various different manufacturers, most of them are very similar. The R.A.T.s on the other hand brought a truly new feature.

Unfortunately in practice the adjustable ergonomics didn't really work quite as well as we'd hoped. No matter what parts were used, even the 7 ended up looking like the non-adjustable 3, and neither felt as good in my hand as many normal mice. There's definitely a good idea behind these mice, but despite them being adjustable, you still better not rely on them perfectly fitting your hand. The comfort problems combined with the love-or-hate looks means none of the R.A.T.s makes it to our list of favorite peripherals.

    • Ahh, tulipa sopivaan aikaan tämä rewiew, pitäisi ensviikolla tipahtaa R.A.T 9 postiin. Innolla odotan vaikka ei päässytkään parhaimpien listalle. Good job!
