All in all, the 285GTX is a nice update of the 280GTX. Some may complain that it doesn't improve that much on the existing products. Sure, the core is just about the same as the GT200 found on the 280GTX and card really looks the same, but the card runs cooler and the newer technology used for the GT200b-chip gives us some more headroom in clock speeds.

We compared the 285GTX to the Crossfire setups for a good reason as those two setups were close to the price of the 285GTX depending on the versions of course. The nice thing about Crossfire is that so many chipsets support it, while SLI is really only limited to Nvidias own chipsets or the newer X58-based motherboards.

Despite the high price of this card I think it still brings decent value. The card outperformed our Crossfire-setups nicely in some of the newer benchmarks, without SLI. Allowing users to use high settings without needing multiple graphics cards in their setup is highly valued, at least by me.
